Are you in love with horses, but don't have one? Well don't worry, you're not alone. Many kids dream about owning a horse, but either can't afford one, or live in the city where horses can't be kept.

To satisfy your horse urges, try these sites. At each one, you'll learn some amazing things about these smart, loveable animals. For example, did you know that there are real live horses that are smaller than a dog? A real live tiny horse that is perfectly-proportioned? Well, THAT's what a Miniature Horse is! Just visit in www.smallhorse.com and you can see for yourself.

If you like to color, you'll also enjoy the free coloring book found at http://keeneland.com/visitor/coloring.asp. There are dozens of racehorse pictures to print out and color when you are away from the computer. While you're at this site, go on the tour of the real, live racetrack! Another site you should visit is www.horsefun.com, where you can take a test to see how much you know about horses, read horse cartoons and chat with other kids who are horse crazy.

You'll also have fun listening to horses neigh at www.georgetown.edu/cball/animals/horse.html -- just click on an animal and hear its sound. If you're really serious about getting a horse, have your mom and dad visit www.american-saddlebred.com/newcomer.htm, and you'll see a list of all the expenses involved in buying and boarding a real live horse. This will help you understand why horses require more work and money than other pets like cats or dogs.

Finally, if you're a pretty good reader, you'll really like all the horse facts and clear pictures found at www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses. There's a complete list of every breed of horse on Earth. While these web sites aren't as fun as a real horse, they can help you learn more about what it would be like to own one.

This page is found on page 40 of the May/June issue of CSR, and is for horse crazy kids, ages 6-12. Click on these URLs to see each feature.
